10+(5v-7)=5v-3

pretend that there is a 1 in front of the bracket

10+1(5v-7)=5v-3

mutiply the bracket by 1

(1)(5v)= 5v

(1)(-7)= -7

10+5v-7= 5v-3

10-7+5v= 5v-3

3+5v=5v-3

move 5v to the left side

sign changes from +5v to -5v

3+5v-5v= 5v-5v-3

3+0= 0-3

3=-3
